Premature Evacuation

Of the stands that is.

For the record: this is NOT about making fun of Duke (that's tomorrow... sort of.). Well, all right, just a little.

"Florida State fans prematurely stormed the court with 1.7 seconds left to play, but that only delayed the final buzzer that signaled the Seminoles' second win over No. 1 Duke in three years."

Everyone knows how I feel about Duke. But I also hate FSU. My step-brother was a huge FSU fan, and growing up with him produced several epic battles every time UNC played FSU in anything (we'd have fought over an inter-collegiate game of tidily winks). So again, I hate FSU.

I hate them even more now that I have further proof that they're all retards down in Tallahassee. Why the fuck would you rush the court before the time has expired in the game? It makes no sense! Wait until the game is over and then celebrate 'til the cows come home (or you lose to Miami in your next game and blow your chance at The Big Dance).

Someone could have been hurt, most notably one of the opposing players or assistant coaches. That's why I applaud Coach K's decision to have his starters escorted to the locker room by security after the court was cleared and before the game restarted. (see? I applauded him!)

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Did I just get applauded by a Carolina fan?

I just don't see why fans rush a court, field, track, swimming pool whatever before a game has officially ended. What if that game had been closer? Duke makes its free throws, FSU misses theirs, a last second shot heaved up and goes in. Well now, that didn't turn out quite how you expected, now did it? But hey! You got to storm the court once tonight and that's gotta count for something, right? Right? No? Jackass!

The moral of the story is: don't do shit until the buzzer has sounded and that "W" is sealed up tight. Otherwise, you just end up looking like those assholes from Stanford.

D

And I'm not talking any trash.

Funny thing is that JJ was off the floor for the final part so even if the FSU player had missed the first free throw, they didn't have JJ to sink the 80 footer to tie.
