Good times in Gainesville

To commemorate the back to back championships that Florida has reeled off, I’d like to share my favorite U of F moment:

A couple of years ago Yogus and I drove to Gainesville to watch our beloved Georgia Southern Eagles take on the Florida Gators in a friendly little game of basketball. What with G-ville only being about 6 hours from the ‘Boro, we thought there’d be a pretty good size group of Eagle fans there to help us cheer on the boys. Not so much. There were about 4 other guys there.

So the 6 of us sat there surrounded by 12,000+ Gator fans, as the Eagles went toe to toe with the larger school for most of the game, and we out shit-talked all of their fans that were within earshot. Seriously, their basketball fans knew nothing of trash talk. Their best talker was some hot chick behind us that would say “Don’t let that #10 get it. He’s good!”

But my single favorite Florida moment was right after the 6 of us had to suffer through one of their chants: "Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar, all for the Gators, stand up and holler!" After the cheering died down there was an ever so brief period of silence that Yogus timed fucking perfectly and announced to everyone:

“That was the single gayest experience of my entire life!”

Every Gator fan that heard that turned around and looked right at him, while the 5 of us howled with laughter. It could have been the ass whooping of a lifetime, but at the time we didn’t care because it was so funny.

We ended up losing the game as Florida pulled away in the end and David Lee went over 1,000 points for his career, but I’ll never forget suffering through that chant only to have it pay off with Yogus almost getting us all pummeled.
